Director Automotive, Microsoft Corporation

Boris Engel is Director Automotive at Microsoft. Previously, he worked for 20 years at Daimler AG in various leadership positions.

In his last role at Daimler, he led the global development of entertainment and communication systems for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. He was also responsible for system integration and release management of “Mercedes me connect” and in-house software development for Powertrain.

His expertise, spanning over 20 years, covers software development in embedded systems and cloud-based solutions with onboard integration, as well as hardware and mechatronics development. He has successfully led global, cross-functional projects with international teams, impressing with his strong communication and leadership skills.

Martin Schleicher
Head of Software Strategy, Continental AG

Martin Schleicher has over 25 years of experience in the automotive software industry. Since 2021, he has been responsible for “Software Strategy” within the “Software and Central Technologies” organization at Continental.

Previously, he held various leadership positions at Elektrobit, including responsibilities for corporate strategy, product and portfolio management, and partnerships. Martin Schleicher is active in various consortia and associations, including AUTOSAR, Eclipse SDV, SOAFEE, and VDA. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and a member of the Program Advisory Board of conferences such as “ELIV”, “Automotive Computing Conference”, and “Automotive Software Strategies”.

Anudar Hanibal
Mobility Expert and Managing Director, AHAT GmbH

Anudar Hanibal is a mobility expert and Managing Director of AHAT GmbH. She was born on September 13, 1972 in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. After studying business administration at the Technical University of Berlin, she began her career at Mercedes-Benz Lease-Finance, a Daimler company, in November 1998, after a project assignment initially with the international management trainee group.

Her roles at Mercedes-Benz Bank and Daimler Financial Services took her through various areas of the Daimler Group’s financial services and mobility division, with stays in Israel and Poland. Early on, she gained extensive project management experience in setting up new companies, for example in Israel and Russia, and in implementing innovative IT projects such as an optical archive.

For over 6 years, she held various management positions in dealer financing, sales & marketing, and insurance as part of her expatriate assignment at Mercedes-Bank Rus in Moscow, most recently as Sales & Marketing Director responsible for the entire sales department.

Back at the headquarters of Daimler Financial Services, she led the Labeling Europe and Sales & Marketing Vans Global departments. She then moved to the Business Innovation department of the Daimler Group (most recently known as Lab1886), where she was responsible for selecting and evaluating future business models in the area of Smart and Shared Mobility. Among other things, she developed and built Mercedes me Flexperience as a car subscription business model. She was responsible for developing a Subscription Services IT platform, including an app, and piloting the business model at several dealership operations in Germany. She also led her team in evaluating market potentials for additional markets such as China, Russia, and South Africa.

As part of the business area’s transformation in January 2021 into the newly founded technology holding 1886Ventures, she took on the role of Managing Director. Since July 2021, Mrs. Hanibal has been building Carve8 GmbH as founder and shareholder, offering a white-label car subscription platform solution for car dealerships, enabling a completely digital customer experience through online contract conclusion.

Dr. Patrick Bartsch
Principal Product Technology BDM, Amazon Web Services

Dr. Patrick Bartsch, is a Principal Product Technology BDM at Amazon Web Services with close to 20 years of global experience in the automotive industry.

Prior to joining AWS, Dr. Patrick Bartsch worked as Head of Technology Specialists Connected Car for Jaguar Land Rover where he was responsible for the connectivity solutions from the Vehicle to the Cloud, connected car cybersecurity, Application Programming Interfaces on-board and off-board as well as prototyping and future platform development. He and his team delivered the current generation connectivity solution with dual e-sim and local sim-profile download capabilities, established the connected car cyber security framework and connected vehicle API design forum.

Before joining Jaguar Land Rover, Dr. Patrick Bartsch worked for Audi and Volkswagen in different roles, which include software development for embedded units such as engine control units and the optimization of injection time and value, software development and team leading for environmentally friendly driving solutions which used digital map data to optimize vehicle calibration. He later worked multiple years in system architecture design leadership for infotainment systems as well as leading several connected car projects for those companies.

Dr. Patrick Bartsch received PhD from the University of Hanover, Germany, in Electronics and Computer Science in addition to his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (automotive) from the University of Brunswick, Germany. He is also a Lecturer at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in the mobile application development branch of study and an examiner at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.

Today, Dr. Patrick Bartsch works mainly on transforming the automotive industry with tailored offerings in the area of automotive E/E architectures, software defined & connected vehicles and the cloud products and services allowing to shift-left the overall automotive embedded software development process.
